Help build a new home for Athlone Boxing Club.

Around 100 members train with us every week in the basement of Saints Peter and Paul’s Church. We’re raising funds for a purpose built facility that will give our boxers more space to train and our club room to grow.

Inspiration and development for young athletes.

A local club with a lot to give.

Since 2007, Athlone Boxing Club has helped young people from Athlone and the surrounding area develop their boxing skills, build confidence and make friends.

We’re a voluntary, not for profit club affiliated to the Irish Athletic Boxing Association. Our coaches give their time to help members progress in the ring and in everyday life, with respect, discipline and encouragement at the heart of every session.

New building appeal

Our boxers need more room.

Our current home in the church basement has served the club for years. But space and facilities are limited, and we need a building that can support the next generation of members.

The proposed new facility will be beside Athlone Regional Sports Centre at Lissywollen. It will provide training space, changing rooms, toilets, accessible facilities and equipment storage.

Planning permission has been granted and a 20 year lease secured with Westmeath County Council. The next step is securing the funding to deliver the building.

Plans for the proposed new facility.

Estimated building cost

€535,720

including VAT

Estimate provided in the club’s October 2026 newsletter. Professional fees, boxing equipment and ring, furniture and future construction inflation are excluded.

The club aims to grow to 150 members by 2027/2028. The proposed building would also provide space for wider community activities.
